'He doesn’t need glasses because he doesn’t see anything,' Daniil Medvedev rages at the chair umpire yet AGAIN as frustration boils over a wrong line call

An unlucky Daniil Medvedev found himself wrapped in wrong decisions as he lost an important match at the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters. With the spot in the quarter-finals at stake, the Russian lost a crucial point, en route suffering a disappointing loss.

Medvedev was up against his friend Karen Khachanov. In what was an entertaining match, both the players were pushing each other for every point, but it was Khachanov who put his compatriot under the pump after a first-set win. However, Medvedev tried to come back in the second set but lost all his momentum after a wrong call from the umpire.

During a rally, the ball went out, but the umpire had given a point to Khachanov. Medvedev, who had realized this wrong call a little late, lost his cool and raged at the chair umpire. Unlike yesterday, this wrong-line call came at a hefty price. Medvedev now had to save break points and Khachanov inched closer to causing an upset.

Who will take action? Yesterday the ball is out. It’s called in. This ball is out there. Who will take responsibility? It’s not my responsibility to referee the matches. It’s this guy in the glasses. He doesn’t need glasses because he doesn't see anything,  shouted Daniil Medvedev at the umpire

Unfortunately, Medvedev was not given a point back and had to play a final set, where Khachanov beat him comfortably, sealing his place in the quarter-finals.

Daniil Medvedev was fined a point penalty as he crossed the line with the chair umpires

Daniil Medvedev, who had started the year by setting an ambitious goal to play the year clean, without any on-court disputes, seems to have forgotten it. In two days, the Russian lost his cool twice over a wrong line call.

Yesterday, he had just lost a game, but today it put Medvedev one step closer to losing the match. Despite the importance of the situation, the Russian continued to shout at the chair umpire and was soon fined for crossing the line. Not only did he argue for the point, but kept on whining about it till he was penalized.

He was fined with a point penalty and had to enter the last set, lagging 15-0. This gave Khachanov an easy finish, as he served his way through to the quarter-finals of Monte Carlo. He beat Medvedev 6-3,7-5 to cause a major upset. Now, the Russian waits for the winner of Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsistsipas in his first Monte Carlo quarter-finals.
